Flaws.

Now, i'm not going to keep going on and on about how great the Playstation 3 is. Even the PS3 isn't perfect. I know, your shocked, your asking 'How can such a great system have flaws?' Well, everything has flaws.

I'll start off with the most annoying thing on the Playstation 3. The internet. Yes I know, I have been saying it's great and all, and don't get me wrong, it is. It's just that setting up the internet is not great. You get this annoying DNS error almost everytime unless you do everything manually. Then when you test it manually it tells you the IP adress times out. Get's you furious. But anyways..
Now the second most annoying flaw. So.. Your playing a game online, and you recieve a message on your PSN account. Your like.. oh cool a message, let's read it. Well, you get into your message, read it and try to get out, but 50% of the time it freezes right the heck up and you can't get back to your game. You can still here other people talking and you can still talk.. But you can't get back to the game. You have to restart the whole system and it totally screws up your game.

These are the only flaws I know of (other than a couple little ones.) There are NO overheating issues or anything like that. These are the only flaws.. but they sure are annoying.

PS: PS3 is still better than Xbox 360

Xbox 360 VS Playstation 3

Now, I have been hearing a lot lately about how the Xbox 360 is SO much better than the Playstation 3. I strongly disagree, but again, my opinion, calm down, take a deep breath before you comment, please. *WARNING WALL OF TEXT!*

Again, let's kick this off with cost.

Xbox 360 cost: $299
Internet and other fees: $50
Total cost: $ 349

Playstation 3 cost= $399
Internet and other fees=$0
Total cost=$399

Well, I am going to have to tie this one.. The internet and other fees for Xbox 360 is only for 1 year of Xbox Live.. So if you want another year.. 50 more bucks.

Now let's go to gameplay

The Xbox 360 gameplay is targeted for both kids and adults. I like it.. Everybody else seems to like it.

Now, the PS3 is designed for adults and teens and that's good. But when you have a little sister who always wants the television because she is scared by the games your playing.. Well, let's just say it gets a little annoying.

Now here's one I was debating on doing... Graphics

The Xbox 360 graphics are pretty advanced.. but I find they are in the "block" stage and are very bright. The edges on characters, buildings and many other things are not smooth like they are supposed to be and it really, really annoys me. The brightness is good sometimes.. at games like GTA 4.. But it is a little TO bright.

As I said in the Wii vs PS3... The PS3 graphics are superior to any others. Smooth edges and a nice dark tinge to all games.. What's not to love?

Here is where the arguments start flooding in.. Games.

The Xbox 360 games have some great titles out there like Halo 3, (not really) Left 4 Dead, and Gears of War 2. The Xbox has a lot more titles than the PS3 released.. But I would expect that for being out 18 months longer. Again I go back to the HD.. You have to pay 15 bucks more and it only holds 15 gigs.

Now.. The Playstation 3 also has some great titles like the Resistance series (Big fan), Little Big Planet, Motorstorm, and Killzone 2 just to name a few. I'll go back to Blu-Ray also.. No extra cost and holds 25 more gigs than the Xbox 360 disks.. That's a lot..

Now let's get onto features

There is no need to do this.. They have like.. The exact same features. Maybe one difference here will make up another difference there... Tie!

Controllers

The Xbox 360 controllers are great. They fit in your hands great and are very comfortable.

The Playstation 3's controllers are quite humiliating. Using the same design from Playstation 1!? Give me a break Sony!

Networking

Well, the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 have the exact same networks basically, except you have to pay for Xbox Live. WIN FOR PS3!

Other Tidbits

Now.. The Xbox 360 has some crap you need to buy if you get certain versions or have wireless internet. If you get an Arcade Version of the Xbox 360 you have to buy a hardrive, and that's about $50-$75. If you want wireless internet you have to buy an adapter and your looking at $75-$100. That's RIDICULOUS! Get a PS3.

Playstation 3 have no hidden costs.. Except costing you your day playing this amazing system.

Playsation 3 VS Wii

I really don't know why i'm doing this. The Playstations 3 is obviously better BUT I need the extra postings :).


I'll start things off with cost.
PS3 cost (On average)= 399$
Internet and other fees= 0$
Total cost=399$

Wii cost (On average)= 170$
Internet and other fees=0$
Total cost= 170$

Not much to say about this one. Wii is a lot cheaper, but is it worth it for the gameplay?

Next is gameplay
The Wii gameplay is fun.. but somewhat childish. I do like the motion sensor controllers but with no good games.. Why bother?

The Playstation 3 gameplay is very fun. Wide variety of games, but most are racing. The games are definetly not aimed for children.. And I like that.

Now onto graphics.

The Wii graphics are alright.. But they are all cartoony. Some games like Wii Golf have nice scenery.. but the graphics of the people ruin it. Not a big fan of the graphics.

The Playstation 3 graphics are supreme amongst any other system out there. As I have said in past posts, the Blu-Ray disks allow enhanced graphics to the limit.

Networking

Wii internet is very boring. It randomly matches you up with other players unless you get your buddies gamer "code." This is a very long code and I could not memorize it for the life of me. It does have full access internet though.. But you have to pay!

Playstation 3 internet is great. You can download demos, buy games and movies, and surf the internet. All for FREE!

Games

The Wii games are quite fun, but sometimes you just want to relax when playing a game.. and you can't really do that with the Wii. The controllers are what makes the Wii the Wii.

Playstation 3 games are graphic intense and have a wide variety of titles. From Motorstorm to Little Big Planet to Killzone 2 there will be a game that YOU will like.

Well, the PS3 won.. Let the bad comments flow in.. But please.. No "You only say the PS3 is better because you have one." Well.. I have both a PS3 and a Wii.. and this is my opinion.. Don't like it? Cry home to your mother :)

Playstation Network

The Playstation 3 uses an internet network called Playstation Network. This let's you communicate and connect with friends a lot easier. Playstation Network has registered twenty million people from around the world. A really cool feature is you can browse the WHOLE internet, for free. You can watch videos from Youtube or you can post blogs to your blog site and alot more. With PSN you can get these features, all for the great cost of.. Zero dollars:

• Lobbies/Matchmaking for immediate play
• Scores/Rankings for comparison
  
• Trophies rewarded for completing goals in some games
• Friends list for up to 100 people
• Voice and video chat
• Instant messaging
• Internet browser and google search

There is also Playstation Store where you can buy or rent games and videos or download game demos. Playstation Home let's you connect with friends and play free games with them.

PS: I didn't compare them to other Networks because I did not have enough time.. And I'm too lazy to do it.

Games.

With the Playstation 3's graphics, which game isn't great!? With exclusive games like "Little Big Planet" and "Killzone 2" the Playstation 3 games are alot better than Xbox 360 or Wii. Now people have been saying " Xbox 360 has WAY better games than the PS3." First off, I do not agree with this. Xbox 360 games just use the same thing over and over again. Secondly, the Xbox 360 has been out 18 months longer, so I would expect better games from it..... for now. Some games have improved JUST because PS3 took them from Xbox 360. A great example is Fallout 3. They had to cut it short in 360 because the disks can only hold 15 gigs, while, as I mentioned before the PS3 disks can hold 50 gigs. So the morale of the story is, more memory = better gaming experience.

Although the Playstation 3 is for more of a "casual" gamer, it has games that are very, very versatile. This does not mean that you can't get into it enough to be hardcore, it just means that you can play once in a while, and still get a great gaming experience. The PS3 has games from ALL genres unlike the Xbox 360 (mostly shooters.) Of course this is just MY personal opinion, so comments are welcome.

PS: I did not mention the Wii, because the games for Wii are too childish for my liking.

Features.

The Playstation 3 is well worth the price for all the features you get in it. Just a few examples of the features you get are :
-Blu-Ray and DVD player
-Can run Windows XP on it
-Can plug in computer mouse, printer and keyboard
-Bluetooth headsets
-Can charge MP3's, Ipod's etc.
-Can plug in MP3's, Ipod's etc. and listen to music off of them
-256 MB of RAM (Random access memory)

This is amazing considering that the cost is 399$ for a 40 gig and 499$ for an 80 gig. On average a Blu-Ray player costs 250$-400$, so realistically you are only paying a max of around 149$ for a 40 gig and 249$ for an 80 gig (if you are buying a Blu-Ray player anyways.) For what you get with the PS3 I would pay the extra cash to get it. Would you?

PS: Xbox 360 only has DVD. Wii has neither. Ha!

Controllers

The Playstation 3 controllers are very diverse because they have the "sit down and play" like the old Playstation , and they have SIXAXIS. SIXAXIS is a motion sensor (like the Wii) and you can do anything with it. From driving cars to shaking off enemies SIXAXIS can do it all. The controllers have not changed much since the first Playstation, revised shoulder buttons, a home button. The only big differences are SIXAXIS and wireless. The Playstation controllers take about 40 minutes to charge (USB port charge) and they last for around 30-35 hours. The Xbox 360 uses regular AA batteries unless you get a charging pack. The Ps3 controllers are not as comfortable as the Xbox 360 but I like the SIXAXIS.
